Emergency crews and state police responded to an accident between a motorcycle and a Forward Township dump truck Friday morning around 10:40 p.m.

FORWARD TWP — State police released the name of the motorcyclist killed in a Friday morning crash in Evans City.

Robert Hauserman, 44, of Evans City, was identified as the motorcycle operator who died after crashing into a Forward Township dump truck at about 10:40 a.m. Friday.

Paul Merten, 28, of Evans City, was stopped on Marburger Road doing road maintenance in a Forward Township Municipal truck, according to authorities. The truck was just south of Watters Station Road in the 240 block of Marburger Road.

Authorities report Hauserman's 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the stopped dump truck.

Hauserman was pronounced dead at about 11:19 a.m. after being transported by ambulance to the emergency room at UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township. He died of blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen, according to Butler County Chief Deputy Coroner John Hanovick. He was wearing a helmet.

No one else was injured in the crash.

Marburger Road was closed most of Friday as police conducted an accident reconstruction analysis.

An autopsy is not planned, Hanovick said, but a routine toxicology screening will be performed.

The investigation is ongoing, according to a police report.
