Waldroup

Emma J. Waldroup, 89, of Karns City, went to be with the Lord in the comfort of her home Sunday morning, Aug. 30, 2026.

Emma was born in Butler on Jan. 3, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Jennie Viola Teague Elliott.

She was a graduate of Butler High School. Emma was a devoted Christian and a member of Crisswell Bible Baptist Church.

Emma was a loving homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and playing the organ. Throughout the years, Emma and her husband had been foster parents, having provided a caring home for many children.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Waldroup, whom she married in Butler on Aug. 25, 1956. Mr. Waldroup preceded her in death on July 7, 2023.

She is survived by eight children and their spouses, James and Ginny Walker, Robin and Ronald Blake, Larry and Brenda Walker, Thomas and Linda Waldroup, Barbara Matson, Brenda Atherton, Donald Waldroup, and Shawn and Sheila Waldroup; as well as 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Greene-Cowgill and her husband; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

WALDROUP — Friends of Emma J. Waldroup, who died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, will be received from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Crisswell Bible Baptist Church, 127 Crisswell Road, Karns City. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church, with church pastor Paul DeBacco officiating.

Interment will be in Hillview Cemetery in the village of Kepple’s Corners.
