Thomas M. Porter, 84, of Slippery Rock, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026.

Born Sept. 21, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Melvin W. “Pete” Porter and Frances B. Myers Porter.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was employed at AK Steel. An avid hunter, he was happiest at his camp. He was a loving uncle devoted to his niece and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Thomas is survived by one son, William J. Porter; one granddaughter; one sister, Frances Jo Myers-Stanley and her wife, the Rev. Jaime Stanley; and niece and nephews, Angie Geibel and her daughter, Jaylynn Geibel, James Neal, and John Neal and his wife, Mary Jo, and their children, William Scott, Dylan Neal, Camren Neal, Sarahlea Humes and Joella Neal.

PORTER — Friends of Thomas M. Porter, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME SOUTH SIDE, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

Military honors will be accorded at 6 p.m. at the funeral home by American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249 and VFW Post 499. The military honors will be immediately followed by funeral services, with the Rev. Jim Lewis officiating.

Private burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery, Sugar Creek Township, Armstrong County.
