Virginia Carroll

Virginia B. Carroll, 94, of Carlisle, Pa. passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at The Residence at Carlisle.

Born April 21, 1932, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (Setzenfand) Lawhead.

She was the widow of retired Col. Anthony Carroll, who died April 29, 2013.

Early in her life, she had been employed at the Bobbie Brooks sewing factory and Woolworth's, both in Butler. She was a very accomplished artist across many mediums and had taught oil painting for many years.

Always supportive of her husband, she and the children followed him to his many postings throughout his Army career. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She was the last of her family generation. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dotty Price, in 2016.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Cline, of Colorado; and a son, Daniel Carroll, of Carlisle; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

CARROLL — Funeral services for Virginia B. Carroll, who died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at RONAN FUNERAL HOME, 255 York Road, Carlisle, with Deacon Billy Centenera officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa., immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
