Phase 2 of Zelienople’s downtown revitalization project completed

ZELIENOPLE — Work that was part of Phase 2 of the ongoing streetscape project on the borough’s Main Street has been completed.

At the borough’s meeting Monday, Aug. 31, council voted unanimously to issue a payment worth $112,638 to M&B Services for completed work.

The revitalization project, which has been ongoing since 2015, is headed into Phase 3, said Andrew Spencer, borough manager.

“I don’t know when it will start but we hope to have it out for bids next month,” he said.

All three phases of the work, which Spencer described as beautification of the street, include upgrading sidewalks, curbs, electrical components and light poles. Phases are divided by blocks or portions of the street, he said.

Council also approved payments to Hiles Excavating toward improvements for the segment of the project which aims to refurbish the Veteran’s Memorial at Four Corners Park. Payments include $30,386.25 for work completed on the park.

Council also agreed to release monies paid by Piatt Companies for Phase 4B and Phase 5A of Glade Run Village, a residential development in the borough, which was held until the work was completed.
