Donald Wayne “Don” Currie, 86, of Renfrew, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.

Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Butler, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Helen M. Ritzert Currie.

Don was a devoted member of All Saints Parish — St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church. He was formerly a member of St. John’s in Coylesville, where he served on the church council; a former member of St. Peter in Butler, where he served as usher; and also formerly part of St. Wendelin’s in Butler. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran who then went on to work as a customer service engineer for Xerox. After he retired, Don worked part-time for Sportsman Supply. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. Don was a life member of Happy Hunters Sportsman Club and Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. He was also a member of the Evans City Sportsman Club, the NRA and Gun Owners of America. Lastly, Don was a former member of the Mon-Yough Skydivers. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Carol (McConnell) Currie; his children, David W. (Aaron) Currie and Amy B. (David) McBrien; two step-grandchildren, Brady McBrien and Colby (Maggie) McBrien; his step-great-grandchild, Waylon McBrien; his “adopted” extended family, Coali Bonus, Kayia Lokhaiser and their mother, Emily, Grace Slomer, Anna D’Antonio, Ashton Campbell and Eryka and Weston Slomer; his stepsister, Diane Mason; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Pam Slomers.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepbrother, David Rettig.

CURRIE — A Mass of Christian burial for Donald Wayne “Don” Currie, who died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at All Saints Parish — St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with military honors following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don's name to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.

Arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 856 Evans City Rd., Renfrew.
