Herb, you really are amazing. First, you do not know the entire definition of underemployment. A lawyer who is working FULL-TIME as a bartender because they cannot find a job as an attorney would be an example of underemployment. The term does not just mean part-time work. A person with high skills in a low skill job would be considered underemployed. Again, underemployed does not just mean part-time work. Many who are underemployed work full-time. From the Bureau of Labor Statistics: "Is there a measure of underemployment? Because of the difficulty of developing an objective set of criteria which could be readily used in a monthly household survey, no official government statistics are available on the total number of persons who might be viewed as underemployed. Even if many or most could be identified, it would still be difficult to quantify the loss to the economy of such underemployment." So, there is no official underemployment rate.

Now, you and others are claiming we never actually had a budget surplus which is pure fantasy. The Bush tax cuts, the Obama tax cuts, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are the primary reasons for the ballooning national deficit. For example, about 1/3 of the stimulus was tax cuts. So, by arguing the stimulus added to the deficit is arguing that tax cuts added to the deficit since it was 1/3 of stimulus. Iraq and Afghanistan have never been paid for. The Bush and Obama tax cuts have not paid for themselves. Those are not opinions, those are facts. Nice try posting something from that right wing rag the Wall Street Journal. The article was nothing but right wing spin of numbers in an attempt to justify failed right wing economic policies. Why not just posting a video clip from the Glenn Beck show next time?

If tax cuts are so great, why is the economy not so great? According to right wing logic, since we are paying the lowest tax rate since 1950, our economy should be booming. It isn't.
