The illegal war started the recession. That's where the first trillion dollars went. Again, I would rather spend the money here building bridges and roads instead of blowing up some sand dune. I would rather Exxon and BP pay taxes on their record breaking profits - profits that were increased by tax cuts. Why give oil companies tax cuts? They were supposed to research new technologies for renewable energy, but without anybody looking over their shoulder, they policed themselves, just as they did in safely drilling offshore. Laughable. Wall Street telling people to buy securities that they have bet against. Banks giving credit cards to students to pay $7 for a cup of coffee and then default. It was just a free for all. What did you want the Dems to do? Follow Herbert Hoover and let the market take care of itself? Corporations will not police themselves. They will not spend the money they saved from taxes on research, they will give it to their CEO. If you don't learn from history, you are bound to repeat it.
