Icy roads shut down I-79 for about 20 minutes
State police and the state Department of Transportation closed Interstate 79 from Portersville to Slippery Rock for about 20 minutes because of icy conditions and multiple fender benders.
Police closed the road about 9:30 a.m. Ambulance crews responded to the accidents, which were caused by an icy road surface.
The number and extent of accidents is unknown at this time.
I-79 reopened about 9:50 a.m.
