A Butler man was arrested and charged after allegedly preventing a woman from leaving his apartment, months after his arrest for a similar alleged incident.

Larry Anthony Alexander, 54, faces a felony charge of false imprisonment and misdemeanor and summary charges of harassment following a report on Aug. 22 from a woman who ran to the police station following the alleged incident.

According to the Butler City Police Department, Alexander was charged with false imprisonment of another woman on June 29, 2026. Formal arraignment in the Court of Common Pleas in that case is scheduled for Sept. 1.

According to the affidavit in the case, a woman claimed a man on the 300 block of West Brady Street had offered her a cigarette while she was walking by a residence and she accepted. She told police that once she entered the residence, the man — later identified by police as Alexander — closed the door, locked it, pulled out a pipe and asked her if she smoked crack.

According to the affidavit, after the woman replied “no,” she and Alexander engaged in small talk in which she mentioned she was selling some household items prior to moving. Alexander told her he had $150 and she told him she didn’t have anything that expensive she was selling. According to the affidavit, Alexander then stated “I’m trying to buy you.”

The woman told police she then told Alexander she was leaving and he kept blocking the front door with his body, repeatedly telling her he could not let her leave, according to the affidavit. At that point, the affidavit said Alexander began telling the woman she “did not have to have sex with him” and he would “pay her to just hang out with him at this point.”

When the woman was able to exit the apartment, Alexander allegedly began chasing her down the street. According to the affidavit, the woman ran to the Butler City Police Station to report the incident.

A preliminary hearing for Alexander has not yet been scheduled.
