Andrew Walter, Arizona State, threw five touchdown passes, breaking Jake Plummer's record, as the Sun Devils routed No. 16 Iowa 44-7. Walter was 31-of-43 for 428 yards and has 11 TD passes this year and 66 in his career, one more than Plummer.

James Wilhoit, Tennessee, kicked a 50-yard field goal with 6 seconds left to give the Vols a a 30-28 victory over Florida.

Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma, ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns in his third straight 100-yard game, leading the second-ranked Sooners to a 31-7 victory over Oregon.

Devin Hester, Miami, returned two punts for scores in the No. 4 Hurricanes' 48-0 win over Louisiana Tech.

Wali Lundy, Virginia, ran for three touchdowns for the third straight game to help No. 12 Virginia rout Akron 51-0.

Braylon Edwards, Michigan, caught eight passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 17 Michigan past San Diego State 24-21. Edwards passed Marquise Walker to become Michigan's career leading receiver.

Sonny Cumbie, Texas Tech, threw for 441 yards and four touchdowns in a 70-35 victory over TCU.

Jared Zabransky, Boise State, completed 26 of 37 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Broncos to a 47-31 victory over UTEP, extending the nation's longest winning streak to 14 games.

Troy Williamson, South Carolina, set a school record with 210 yards receiving and scored three touchdowns in a 34-3 victory over South Florida.

Brad Smith, Missouri, passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, accounting for 296 yards in a 48-0 win over Ball State.

Bruce Gradkowski, Toledo, threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more, leading Toledo to a 42-32 victory over Eastern Michigan.

Tom Zbikowski, Notre Dame, returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown and set up another score with an interception in Notre Dame's 31-24 win over Michigan State.

RUNNING WILD

Maurice Drew became the 75th player in NCAA Division I-A history and the second this season with a 300-yard rushing game, racking up 322 yards on the ground in UCLA's 37-31 win over Washington. By halftime, he had 235 yards on 13 carries. Drew scored five touchdowns, also a school record and the most ever by one player against the Huskies. West Virginia's Kay-Jay Harris gained 337 yards rushing in a 56-23 win over East Carolina two weeks ago.

A LEG UP

Mike Nugent tied a school record with five field goals to give No. 9 Ohio State a 22-14 victory over North Carolina State. Bob Atha also kicked five field goals for the Buckeyes in 1981 against Indiana.

HALTING THE HERD

No. 3 Georgia held Marshall to 160 yards and seven first downs in the Bulldogs' 13-3 victory. More than one-third of the Thundering Herd's total yards came on their first play from scrimmage - a 57-yard pass that set up a 33-yard field goal.

RUNNING MATES

Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney combined for 333 yards rushing to lead No. 22 Minnesota to a 34-16 victory over Colorado State. Barber ran for 201 yards and scored two touchdowns, Maroney added 132 yards.

PENN IS MIGHTIER

Penn extended the nation's longest Division I-AA winning streak to 17 games with a 61-18 win over San Diego. Penn, the two-time defending Ivy League champion, scored its most points since 1946.
