PENN TWP — Firefighters from Penn Township and surrounding fire companies responded to a fire call to The Horse and The Hound at 610 Pittsburgh Road shortly before 2 p.m. when some paper products in the basement caught fire.

Penn Township Fire Chief Jeff Crede said a malfunctioning ballast on a light fixture melted some plastic on the basement ceiling, which dripped and ignited the paper.

Crede estimated the damages at $25,000.

The store’s owner declined to comment on the fire.
