County Democratic leader resigns
The Butler County Democratic Committee needs a new leader. Chairman Larry Kriess has resigned, citing health reasons.
Vice chair Georgiann Kerr of Lancaster Township is the interim chair until the committee holds an election in early October.
Kriess’ resignation takes effect today. The committee has 60 days from the resignation date to elect a new chairman.
Kerr said this morning that Kriess provided steady leadership since being elected chairman in 2009.
“Larry’s greatest achievement as chair was to bring financial stability and health to the party,” she said.
Kriess of Summit Township could not be reached for comment.
