Freeport golf’s Jackson Kane shoots par in win; Karns City girls soccer loses opener: Roundup
Jackson Kane shot a 36, and Max Zigo carded a 39 at Buffalo Golf Course on Friday to lead Freeport boys golf to a 196-238 win over Valley.
Kane’s score was par on the back nine. Brody Vogel and Trey Schreckengost shot 40, and Liam McKivigan a 41 for the 5-1 Yellowjackets.
It was a tough start to the season for Karns City girls soccer, which lost to Winchester Thurston in the season opener 3-0.
Elise Wadas shot a 37 in nine holes, and Mars cruised to a 180-229 win over Shaler. Raegan Graham and Emily Tillapaugh shot a 44 and 45, respectively, for the Planets.
Mars swept the three singles matches, with Gianna Kampian winning 6-0, 6-0 over Ella Marley in Singles 1 to give the Planets a 3-2 win over Seneca Valley.
Elaina Riegler and Grace Nam finished off the other two wins. The Raiders won both doubles matches thanks to Monique Polas and Imogen Cully in Doubles 1 and Evie Miske and Ella Jacisin in Doubles 2.
The Planets improved to 2-1.
