Forest survey seeks input
HARRISBURG — The public can take an online survey to tell the state Bureau of Forestry how it should manage the state forests.
The bureau is preparing to update its State Forest Resource Management Plan.
The plan, revised about every five years, charts the course for managing the 2.2-million acre state forest system for a variety of values and resources.
The 23-question survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. It is intended to gather insights into management priorities and uses of state forests.
The survey is on the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website at www.dcnr.state.pa.us; choose “Forest Management Plan Survey” under Quick Links. It also will be emailed to several thousand people on the department’s various contact lists. The deadline to take the survey is Oct. 31.
Opportunities for public input on a draft of the forest management plan will include written comments and public meetings throughout 2014.
