Mars’ Finn McKenzie cards a 33 in boys golf win: Roundup

Mars’ Finn McKenzie fired a 33 to lead a quintet of Planets coming in under 40 in a 183-189 boys golf victory Wednesday over Franklin Regional at Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.

Also scoring for Mars were Jackson Geiger, Landon Mitro and Luka Zatchey — who all carded a 37 — and Camden Kleba with a 39.

Christian Kallen shot a 33 for Franklin Regional.

KSAC Mega Match No. 5 — A-C Valley/Union’s Joe Rapp tied Keystone’s Greyson Heath with a 33 for medalist honors at Hunter’s Station Golf Course near Tionesta.

Koen Strauser added a 39 for the Falcon Knights.

Liam Hobaugh of Karns City fired a 35. Moniteau’s top scorers included Isaac Book (37) and Carson Minnear (39).

Keystone ran away with team honors, carding a 142, or 17 strokes better than runner-up Moniteau.

Freeport 207, Knoch 218 — At Saxon Golf Course, Freeport (4-1, 3-1) received a 35 from Jackson Kane.

Knoch was paced by Jake Jones’ 37.

Seneca Valley 189, Pine-Richland 195 — The Raiders downed the Rams at Treesdale Golf Club on the strength of four scores in the 30s — Will Pefferman (35), Evan Hock (37), Josh Marquardt (38) and Lucas Barber (39).

Girls golf

Elise Wadas’ 41 paced Mars to a 185-243 victory vs. Ambridge at Suncrest Golf Course.

KSAC Mega Match — Moniteau once again topped the field with a 144, finishing with a comfortable cushion against runner-up Cranberry (150) at Hi-Level Golf Course.

The Warriors featured Hayden Hilliard (47), Cailyn O’Brien (48), Kennedy Sullivan (49) and Juliette Brown (49).
