All smiles at Karns City’s first day of school

CHICORA — Karns City Area Elementary School’s hundreds of students poured off their buses and into the drop-off zone Wednesday morning, Aug. 26, returning to a familiar sight to start the year: warm breakfast ready to be served, and warm welcomes from staff like principal Shane Spack.
Karns City Area School District’s first day of classes Wednesday kicked off the 2026-27 school year like any ordinary day at the K-6 school.
The district’s buses packed with students arrived just before 8:30 a.m. Students poured through the metal detectors at the front entrance of the building that was renovated just before last year, picking up breakfast before heading to class.
