I am a software engineer. In case you don't know how it works, everything done on the internet is sliced up into packets and sent via the best available route. No one packet is more expensive than the next packet.

What the cable companies are trying to do is regulate what internet sites you get for free by claiming (falsely) that some are more expensive to host for you than others. A packet is a packet. Therefore, they want to charge you more to watch, say Netflix, or hulu.

The cable companies are seeing their revenues decline because these websites allow you to watch, say HBO, by only paying their internet access fee, instead of their premium channel fee - on top of their cable tv fee.

Cable companies want to be able to regulate these sites, so they will be able to force you to pay more. If we do nothing, we will be paying more for any popular site that they think you will pay to use. John McCain was the largest benefactor of cable companies and he is pushing for this change.

Net Neutrality is keeping the internet free, not regulating it. I am asking people to support Net Neutrality. This is what I am talking about when I say, SAVE THE INTERNET!

Again, if you would turn off FOX news - who by the way has a stake in this because of their sports channels being broadcast free over the internet, but at a price over cable, you would know this. I think you have Hugo Chavez on the brain or something. Next time, before you answer, do some research.
