BRADENTON, Fla. — Nate McLouth hit hs first home run of the spring Wednesday as the Pirates defeated the Boston Red Sox, 6-5, in Grapefruiit League action at McKechnie Field.

McLouth’s homer followed an Alex Presley single in the secventh inning and proved to be the game-winning hit.

The Pirates scored four runs in the third inning, highlighted by Matt Hague’s two-run homer. Hague is trying to make the team as a utility infielder.

Kevin Correia worked five innings for the Pirates, allowing four runs in eight hits. It was the first time he’s been scored upon this spring.

Evan Meek worked two innings of relief for the win and Juan Cruz tossed a scoreless ninth for the save.

Josh Harrison played the first six innings at shortstop and had two hits. He is hitting .579 (11-for-19) this spring.
