Ruth Lemmon
Ruth Louise Lemmon, 97, of Cabot, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Butler on Oct. 1, 1928, Ruth was the first child of the late John and Twila (Stevens) Welch.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Along with those titles, she was also the secretary, bookkeeper, accountant and customer service representative for the family business for nearly 30 years. In her spare time, she operated a successful wedding and birthday cake business for decades, as well as being the chauffeur and cheerleader for her sons’ athletic endeavors.
Ruth was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of North Main Street Church of God in Butler for over 70 years, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Board of Christian Education, served in several capacities in the Christian Women’s Connection (formerly the Women’s Missionary Society), as well as being a lifelong volunteer in numerous other ministries of the church.
Her family was her main priority and the focus of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to her. She enjoyed vacationing with friends and family. She especially enjoyed spending the week of church camp meeting with her friends and grandchildren in her cottage at Whitehall Campgrounds, in Emlenton. That was the highlight of the year for her. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, handing out the items she made as gifts to just about everyone she knew.
She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Kathy) Lemmon, of Cabot, Ronald (Cindy) Lemmon, of Butler, and Randall (Beth) Lemmon, of Butler; grandchildren, Rachel (Patrick) Griffiths, Lauren (Richard) Hoffman, Tyler (Ana) Lemmon, Renee Lemmon and Ryan Lemmon; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lemmon and Emery Lemmon; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Victoria Griffiths and Christopher Griffiths. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian “Sissy” Roxberry; her brother, Lester “Sonny” (Suzanne) Welch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Albert Lemmon Sr., whom she married Aug. 26, 1948. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Marie (James) Smith and Amanda (Bill) Garrison; and her brothers, John Welch, Frank (Dorothy) Welch, James (Frances) Welch and Mark Welch.
