3 airports get $325,000 in state grants
The Butler County Airport, the Butler Farm Show Airport, and the Grove City Regional Airport will receive state grants to make improvements to their facilities.
The grants, which were announced this morning, come from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's aviation development program, which is funded from the state's jet fuel tax.
The Butler County Airport will receive $150,000 to build a fuel-dispensing facility.
Ivan Longdon, the manager of the airport, said today the new facility will prevent fuel trucks on the north side of the facility from having to cross the runway to service some of the planes. He said the project should begin within six weeks and will take about a month to complete.
The Grove City airport will get nearly $124,000 to buy maintenance equipment and snow removal equipment.
The Farm Show Airport will receive $45,000 to remove obstructions in the runway approach area.
Nineteen airports across the state will receive money from the $2.1 million fund.
