Granted, there is a certain amount of government sanctioned monopoly involved with Cable T.V. companies. This is due to the cost of the infrastructure that must be built to provide these services. Companies are allowed to profit from their investment. But, the price is regulated or approved by government. With that said, you still have many choices for these services. In the Butler area you have Armstrong Cable Services; CenturyLink; Consolidated Communications - these 3 provide internet, telephone and television. You also have DISH Network or Direct T.V. for internet and television. For telephone service you can choose to only have cellular - many choices; or internet phone service such as Vonage or Magic Jack. To say there are no choices is just not true. Look in the phone book - there are other ISP's listed for internet service. To say these services are free is also not true. You get what you pay for. If you want streaming, real-time movie viewing then pay for a faster speed internet along with more bandwidth. Stop looking for a free lunch.
