John 'Doodle' Varholla
John R. "Doodle" Varholla, 77, of 1723 Ford City Road, Kittanning, died Wednesday at the Armstrong County Health Center.
Born Sept. 1, 1931, in Cadogan, he was the son of John and Anna (Preska) Varholla.
He was a lifelong resident of the community.
Mr. Varholla was an electrician and retired from Eljer.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Ford City Eagles, the Ford City VFW and the Latin American Club.
He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family
Surviving is a son, John Varholla of Kittanning, and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Dolores Fair Varholla, died July 25, 2003. A sister, Betty Gould, preceded him in death.
<B>VARHOLLA </B>— Visitation for John R. "Doodle" Varholla, who died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC.</B>, 701 Sixth Ave., Ford City, with a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, Cadogan, with Father Raphael Glinkowski officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
