Virginia S. Krause
Virginia S. Krause, 92, formerly of Lumar Village, Butler, died Wednesday at the Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley.
Born Nov. 7, 1916, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mildred (Cramer) Smith.
She was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and was a retired registered nurse, having worked in the emergency department at St. Francis Hospital. Prior to that, she worked in several doctors' offices in the Butler area.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Surviving are a son, Donald P. Krause and his wife, Cathy, of Aliquippa; a grandson, Ryan Krause of Maryland; two brothers, Richard (Barbara) Smith and Paul (Stella) Smith, all of Butler; a sister, Mrs. John (Joan) Gumpper of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald P. Krause Sr., whom she married in 1944. He died May 2, 1965.
<B>Krause </B>— Friends of Virginia S. Krause, who died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. Pierre Falkenhan, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter Parish Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at the church to pray the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
