John S. Veres
John S. Veres Sr., 91, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Canonsburg, died Thursday in his home.
Born Jan. 12, 1918, in Canonsburg, he was the son of Matthew and Margaret Slezak Veres.
He served as tech sergeant with the United States Army in Japan during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 191 and American Legion Post 902 and former member of St. Genevieve Church.
He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for WW Williams and Allied Equipment.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Lockoski Veres; a son, John S. Veres Jr. (Carol) of Prospect; three daughters, Deborah Jiblets (Joseph) of Canonsburg, Donna Veres (Ron Insalaco) of Florence, S.C., and Margaret Wetzel (Raymond) of Cranberry Township; a brother, George Veres (Viola) of Canonsburg; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Joseph Veres; and two sisters, Anna Manko and Elizabeth Kurnal.
