PITTSBURGH — The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating allegations that a number of municipal police officers from Western Pennsylvania cheated on recent exams.
State police didn't release details on Monday afternoon, but say anyone caught cheating on the annual recertification tests could face sanctions ranging from suspension to decertification. The tests of local law enforcement are administered by the Harrisburg-based Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission.
In 2011 the training commission stripped the certifications of 15 Delaware County officers who had been caught cheating. Most were reinstated in 2013 after they passed written tests and other reviews.
