State announces grant funds for school safety, behavioral health

Local school districts will receive new funding meant to help strengthen physical security, address safety concerns and provide behavioral health support for students and staff.

Eight school districts in Butler County will receive nearly $2 million in school safety and mental health grants through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee.

Grant totals include:

• Butler Area School District — $355,725

• Freeport Area School District — $177,596

• Karns City Area School District — $154,575

• Knoch School District — $183,640

• Mars Area School District — $250,000

• Moniteau School District — $147,091

• Seneca Valley School District — $406,328

• Slippery Rock Area School District — $179,864.
