Presentation to cover the Revolutionary War veterans who settled in Butler
Local historian Tom Nesbitt will discuss the history of the Revolutionary War Veterans who settled in Butler during a presentation on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Nesbitt, a historian and genealogy researcher, is the author of the Zelienople Historical Society’s newsletter.
He recently wrote a newsletter on the same subject. The Moraine, McConnells Mill, Jennings Commission later invited him to do a presentation.
During the presentation, Nesbitt will discuss the veterans who settled on the donation and depreciation lands given to them for their service, the history of William Penn’s land purchases, and notable owners and maps of donation and depreciation lands around the county.
He will also discuss how he used the Find a Grave website to locate records and explain how the site can be used to find relatives and ancestors.
The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Brady Township, and will last about 30 minutes.
