CRANBERRY TWP — The library at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic got a new name recently.

The Patricia Rooney Library is named after its namesake, the wife of Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney.

Dan Rooney will also have his name honored at the school with new athletic practice fields being constructed.

He graduated from North Catholic in 1950.

The plaque under the sign reads, “The Patricia Rooney Library was made possible through the support and generosity of North Catholic High School alumni and friends of the Rooney family.”

The school is undertaking a growth initiative that aims to enhance the school's library services by expanding student access to technology.

Principal Luke Crawford previously said he wants students to have more access to computers for students to do multiple projects.

The school will dedicate the improved school amenities to the Rooneys in a private ceremony.
