Beverly J. Purvis, 62, of Cody, Wyo., formerly of Evans City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Daughter of the late Robert “Archie” and Arlene Purvis, Bev graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1981. She dedicated much of her work life to caring for individuals facing health challenges. Her generous heart and spirit left a lasting impression on countless lives.

A gifted swimmer in her youth, Bev carried her love of water throughout her life. Some of her happiest days were spent boating, fishing and swimming during treasured trips to Canada. Eleven years ago, she discovered the beauty of Wyoming’s mountains and couldn’t leave. She loved adventure, dogs and sitting by a campfire listening to music. And then there were the shoes — a legendary love of hers.

She found great joy in cooking and crocheting and never missed an opportunity to gather with friends and share a drink, a laugh and good conversation. Whether belting out “Long Haired Country Boy” or laughing her way through “There’s a Hole in the Bucket,” she had a way of turning ordinary moments into joyful memories. “Mom’s” home and heart were always open, where simple pleasures like playing cards and jacks brought everyone together.

Bev was the beloved mother of Tracy (Jason) Hawk, Daniel Huffman, Casey Huffman and Emma (Jagger) House. She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, including Isabella, who was her sidekick, playmate and “mini-me.” She is further survived by one great-grandchild; devoted friends, Shirley Ann “Sam” Minehart, Jane Fend and Dawn Frishkorn; siblings, nieces, nephews and many others whose lives were forever enriched by her loyalty.

Though cancer claimed her earthly life, it never diminished Bev’s strength, optimism or zest for living. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in imagining her at perfect peace — surrounded by the beauty of God’s eternal presence, where every horizon is endless.

In lieu of memorial contributions, Bev would simply ask that you raise a glass in her honor at your favorite local bar and share a laugh, a story or fond memory.

In accordance with Bev’s wishes, interment was private.
