On Saturday, June 13, 2026, following a brief illness, Jack G. Shanks, of Harmony, passed away at the age of 81.

Jack was born to Austin and Ila Shanks, in East Liverpool, Ohio, in 1944.

Jack attended the Pittsburgh Automation Institute and later graduated from Walsh College in Canton, Ohio. He wrote computer software for the Apollo moon missions, managed education computer systems and owned his own management consulting company.

Jack’s energy, determination and playfulness are greatly missed by his loving family. Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon; three children, Deana (Scott) Miller, Todd (Angel) Shanks and Joan Taylor; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Jill; and his first wife, Mary Jo.

A celebration of Jack’s life was held in July.

While Jack loved playing a variety of sports throughout his life, most recently he was an avid bicyclist. Memorial donations may be made to Without Reservations bicycle mission via Calvin Presbyterian Church, the Zelienople Public Library or the American Cancer Society.
