Butler, Freeport boys golf teams open 2026 PIAA season with wins: Roundup

The 2026 fall high school sports season officially teed off Thursday. Two Butler County golf teams got things started.
Freeport opened the year with a 198-223 win over Armstrong at Buffalo Golf Course. Max Zigo shot a 1-under 35 with two birdies on the back nine to lead all golfers, and Jackson Kane and Brody Vogel each shot a 39.
Butler also won, beating Hampton 402-210 thanks to nine-hole rounds of 39 from Levi McClellan and Elijah Snyder at Wildwood Golf Club.
