Brady Quinn and Maurice Stovall, Notre Dame. Quinn threw for 467 yards and a school-record six touchdowns, and Stovall caught a career-high 14 passes for 207 yards and four TDs to send the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish past BYU 49-23. Quinn broke the mark of five TD passes he set in an overtime loss against Michigan State this season.

Brad Smith, Missouri, rushed for 246 yards and three touchdowns and threw for 234 yards and another score in a 41-24 win over Nebraska. Smith's 480 yards in total offense set a school record and makes him second in career quarterback rushing behind Antwaan Randle El of Indiana, 1998-01. He is the sixth quarterback in NCAA history to get 200 yards in both passing and running in the same game.

Drew Olson, UCLA, threw for 262 yards and a school-record six touchdowns in the eighth-ranked Bruins' 51-28 victory over Oregon State. Olson had tied the school record of five TD passes a week earlier.

Brett Basanez, Northwestern, threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores in a 49-14 rout of No. 22 Michigan State.

Ricky Santos, New Hampshire, completed 25 of 26 pass attempts for 306 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another score, leading the Wildcats to a 52-21 win over Northeastern

Omar Cuff, Delaware, rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns, lifting the Blue Hens over James Madison 34-28. Cuff's rushing total was the second highest in the school's history.

Adrian Davis, Northern Illinois, rushed for 252 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-3 victory over Kent State.

Bruce Eugene, Grambling State, threw for 479 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another score to lead the Tigers to a 52-21 victory over Jackson State.

Stacy Tutt, Richmond, threw for 376 yards and four touchdowns, including a 15-yard TD pass in the second overtime, and ran for a score in the first overtime to beat Hofstra 43-37.

Laurent Robinson, Illinois State, finished with 243 yards and three scores on 10 receptions in a 38-3 rout of Northern Iowa. Robinson has three straight games with 100 receiving yards.

Justin Holland, Colorado State, threw for a career-high 419 yards and four touchdowns in a 39-31 victory over Wyoming.

Michael Robinson, Penn State, threw four touchdown passes and ran for two more scores leading the 12th-ranked Nittany Lions to a 63-10 rout of Illinois.

UNSTOPPABLE

Top-ranked USC extended its school-record road winning streak to 14 and won a record-tying 19th consecutive conference game with a 51-24 rout of Washington. Matt Leinart completed 20 of 26 passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns — three to Dwayne Jarrett — and Reggie Bush returned a punt 84 yards for another score in the Trojans' 29th straight win. Leinart's 7-yard scoring pass to Jarrett in the second quarter broke the Pac-10 mark of 85 career TD passes set by Andrew Walter of Arizona State, 2001-04.

ROSY OUTLOOK

Second-ranked Texas handed No. 10 Texas Tech its first loss of the season, 52-17, in a victory that should do nothing but help the Longhorns in their run for the Rose Bowl. The Red Raiders were looking to start 7-0 for the first time since 1976 and move into national title contention. Coach Mike Leach had Tech in the top 10 for the first time since the start of the 1977 season and never before had the Raiders and Longhorns faced each other with perfect records this late in the season.

GRUDGE MATCH

Jamie Christensen's 34-yard field goal with 13 seconds left lifted No. 5 Alabama to a 6-3 victory over No. 17 Tennessee, giving the Crimson Tide only its second win in 11 seasons over its bitter rival. It was the first time the Vols failed to score a touchdown since a 30-3 Peach Bowl loss to Maryland on Dec. 31, 2002.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Michigan's 23-20 overtime win gave coach Lloyd Carr his 100th career victory and snapped Iowa's 22-game home winning streak. The win also gave the Wolverines back-to-back victories for the first time this season _ the longest it has taken Michigan to win two straight in any season since 1967. ... No. 12 Penn State gave coach Joe Paterno his 350th victory with a 63-10 rout of Illinois. The win moves Paterno's record to 350-117-3 in 40 seasons, second on the all-time Division I-A coaching victory list. The Nittany Lions also built a 56-3 halftime lead, setting a school record for scoring in a half. The old mark of 55 was set on Oct. 11, 1947, in the first half of a 70-0 victory over Fordham.

SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM

Fourth-ranked Georgia's 23-20 win over Arkansas was marred when D.J. Shockley injured his left knee in the second quarter. The senior quarterback hobbled to the bench and was in obvious pain, but coach Mark Richt said he doesn't think Shockley will need surgery or miss the rest of the season. The Bulldogs can clinch the Eastern Division title as early as next weekend with a win over rival Florida.

JUST ENOUGH

After allowing 69 points to Louisville in a loss two weeks ago, North Carolina held off No. 23 Virginia for a 7-5 win. It was the fewest points scored in a Tar Heels' victory since a 7-3 win over Wake Forest in 1971.

RETURN TO SENDER

No. 19 Wisconsin had 146 return yards off three interceptions of redshirt freshman Curtis Painter in a 31-20 win over Purdue. Safety Roderick Rogers returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown and cornerback Jake Ikegwuonu added two interceptions, including a game-sealing pickoff that he returned 62 yards for a score with 3:21 left.

TIGER BEAT

Jay McCareins scored on a 93-yard kickoff return to help Princeton win 27-24 and snap a nine-game losing streak to Harvard. The Tigers had not beaten the Crimson since 1995, the longest winless stretch by either team in a rivalry that dates back to 1877.
