Road work continues on I-79 this week
Motorists should be aware of road work on Interstate 79 this week and plan ahead for possible delays.
The I-79 northbound right shoulder will again close this week at mile marker 85 along with the adjacent Route 19 north on ramp to I-79 north for drainage work during daylight hours, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation. The ramp is open however.
Single lane traffic controlled by flaggers will be in place this week on Tollgate School Road for bridge work.
Nighttime short-term lane restrictions also continue this week for road work and bridge repairs nightly between 6 p.m.and 6 a.m. on I-79 Northbound and southbound between Exit 76 (Route 228) and Exit 88 (Little Creek Road) in Cranberry and Jackson Townships. Exceptions include I-79 Northbound, Friday after 9 p.m., and I-79 Southbound, Sunday after 9 p.m. However, the interstate will open every morning for rush hour traffic.
