Butler 28, Shaler 20 — It's been a tough first leg of the season for the Golden Tornado.

A win here is just what the doctor ordered for Butler.

Seneca Valley 26, North Hills 24 — The Raiders are looking to bounce back after letting things slip away from them at Norwin last week.

And I think Seneca Valley will bounce back in a big way with a clutch win over North Hills at home.

Gateway 22, Knoch 8 — The Knights are a pretty hard team to figure out.

Knoch should give Gateway fits with its defense, but I'm not sure the Knights will have enough firepower on offense to pull this one out.

Mars 43, Greensburg Salem 6 — The Planets will take out the frustration of a loss last week on Greensburg Salem this week.

CWNC 36, Brentwood 14 — Two words: Mario Latronica.

Freeport 40, West Shamokin 10 — There is no offense more dynamic in the Butler County area these days than Freeport.

Ryan Weigold has nine touchdown passes in the first three games and his favorite target, Brandon Hochbein, already has 250 yards receiving.

Throw in the running of Ian Miller, who is tied for the scoring lead, and Freeport can put up the points.

And the victories.

Slippery Rock 38, Titusville 8 — The four-headed monster of Bailey Mertens, Ryan Lauster, Seth Slater and Trent Porter has been on full display for the Slippery Rock Rockets this season.

Titusville will have its hands full.

I can absolutely guarantee a team with the nickname Rockets will win this week.

Greenville 31, Grove City 13 — Greenville opens up its spiffy new football stadium this week, so the fans and the team will be whipped up into a frenzy.

Not what the Eagles need, to be sure, after playing Slippery Rock tough for a half last week only to have things go awry in the final two quarters.

Karns City 31, Clarion 19 — This is always a marquee game and this year should be no different.

Both Karns City quarterbacks have played well in the rotation and, as always, the Gremlins spread the ball around.

That diversity should be enough to overcome the Bobcats on the road.

Punxsutawney 37, Union 15 — The Chucks are pretty good this year.

Union should make a game of this, but Punxsutawney should pull one out.

Moniteau 24, A-C Valley 16 — Both teams have struggled this season and both desperately need a win.

That should make this one of the best, competitive games of the week. But I give the nod to Moniteau.

Valley 32, Summit Academy 14 — Valley will outlast the Knights.

Scoop was 8-3 last week and is a respectable 26-10 this season.
