SRU water polo team claims sixth
Oliver Horrigan scored eight goals in three games this weekend to lead the Slippery Rock University men's water polo team to a sixth-place finish at the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Eastern Championships at Harvard University.
The Rock (24-7) lost to No. 12 St. Francis, then nipped Harvard 10-9 in double overtime on Saturday.
Brown defeated The Rock 9-8 in double overtime Sunday.
The wins are the most by a Rock men's team since 1991 when the team went 26-7 in its first intercollegiate varsity season.
That team won the Eastern title while the 1994 and 1996 squads both finished in fifth place.
Arseni Grokhovski and Eric Olson added four goals each, while Andy Stiebler and Zachary Wolary each had three goals.
Goalie Glenn Reepmeyer recorded 38 saves and six steals in the three games.
