PITTSBURGH — A man convicted of slashing a Pittsburgh bicyclist’s throat has been sentenced to seven to 14 years in prison.

A judge says today’s ruling also will put 23-year-old Anthony Scholl Jr. of Pittsburgh on probation for 27 years to ensure he receives mental health treatment for schizophrenia.

Prosecutors say Scholl slashed the bicyclist in September 2012. Scholl said he became enraged following a traffic dispute with the cyclist and was hearing loud voices in his head.

Scholl was convicted of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangering.

Bicyclist Colin Albright was stabbed multiple times and his throat was slashed, but he recovered.
