Wisniewski

John J. “Whiz” Wisniewski, 78, of East Butler, formerly of Vandergrift, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

He was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Pittsburgh, to Walter Wisniewski and Dorothy (Joseph) Wisniewski.

He graduated from Bishop Canevin High School and Duquesne University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education. He worked at Allegheny Cold Storage and New Federal Cold Storage.

Whiz was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed coaching Little League. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by son, Ryan (Junelle) Wisniewski, of Butler; daughter, Jennifer Wisniewski, of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Isaac, Caleb and Hadley; brothers, Walt Wisniewski and Frank Wisniewski; sisters, Paula Cass, Mary Luxbacher, Connie Salvayon, Annie Heartland and Antoinette Lyle; brother-in-law, Donald Cocco; and sister-in-law, Denise Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Regina Ann Wisniewski; and sister, Rose Norris.

WISNIEWSKI — A visitation for John J. “Whiz” Wisniewski, who died Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 11, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Sts. Francis and Clare Parish, St. Wendelin Church, 210 Saint Wendelin Road, Butler, with Father Matt McClain officiating.

An entombment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Quality of Life Services — Chicora, 160 Medical Center Road, No. 2612, Chicora, PA 16025.
