BOSTON — Forget the scouting report. If Duke and Maryland don't know each other by now, they haven't been paying attention.

On the final night of the women's basketball season, the two Atlantic Coast Conference rivals will meet to decide the NCAA championship — the fourth time they've faced each other in the past three months.

"It doesn't matter how much tape you watch or who has the best game plan," Duke's Abby Waner said. "I feel like in this game it comes down to who has the most heart."

Both reached Tuesday night's title game with decisive semifinal victories on Sunday. Maryland pulled off a surprise with its 81-70 victory over top-ranked North Carolina, the regular-season and ACC tournament champion. Duke shut down two-time national player of the year Seimone Augustus in beating LSU 64-45.

Duke (31-3) lost to Purdue the only other time it played in the championship game, in 1999. It's the first appearance in the final for Maryland (33-4), an eager, young team.
