PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of first baseman Jeff Clement from their Triple-A team and claimed reliever Hisanori Takahashi off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.

The Pirates optioned infielder Yamaico Navarro to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for Clement on the roster prior to their game against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night.

A corresponding move will be made once Takahashi, a left-hander, reports to the team.
