At Seven Field’s council meeting on Monday, Aug. 10, a public hearing will be held on the potential future of the borough’s EMS coverage.

Keith Singleton, executive director of Quality EMS, is set to give a presentation about why EMS needs municipal support to continue operating in the future. The presentation will be followed by an open discussion.

EMS’ financial struggles continue to affect many municipalities across Pennsylvania and Seven Field is no exception, said borough manager Tom Smith.

Presently, Seven Fields is served by Cranberry Township EMS, which is not funded by any taxpayer money, but solely by insurance reimbursements, direct payments and donations.

Smith said EMS has to become a paid service for it to be sustainable and there are various models for achieving that.

One possible solution council is considering is an agreement with Mars-based Quality EMS.

The nonprofit presently serves residents of Adams, Middlesex and Forward townships; Callery, Mars and Valencia.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m.
