A Butler girl lost the use of her legs when the vhicle she was in struck a tree Monday, Aug. 3, according to a GoFundMe campaign shared by her father.

Brett Sciullo’s daughter and wife were both flown from the crash along Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township to hospitals in Pittsburgh. Dick Road was closed following the crash.

Sciullo’s daughter sustained a spinal injury that ripped the nerve that controls her leg movement, according to the GoFundMe. Doctors performed a spinal fusion to strengthen and shape her spine so she could have “a fraction of the life she was used to.”

“I’m beyond crushed at these details, but I know how strong of a little girl she is,” Sciullo wrote.

The GoFundMe for her care and necessary equipment had raised more than $18,000 as of Thursday afternoon, less than 24 hours after it began.

“(She) is still heavily sedated and mostly unresponsive except to a familiar voice, which she offers a small head nod to,” the family wrote. “I know that Christ has a plan for everything and every situation that is placed in our path, and (her) plan was placed before me.”

Sciullo did not share his wife’s injuries.
