Richard Rowe, a devoted pastor, faithful servant of Jesus Christ and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered the presence of his Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, after a lifetime of faithful service.

Richard was raised on a farm in Darlington, Pa., where the course of his life was forever changed at the age of 10. In a cow pasture on the family farm, he gave his life to Jesus Christ. From that day forward, his life was marked by an unwavering commitment to Christ.

Growing up, Richard balanced the demands of farm life with a deep love of learning. Whenever chores allowed, he could be found with his nose in a book. Through determination and hard work, he put himself through Covenant College and later Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., where he studied classical Greek in preparation for a lifetime of faithfully teaching God’s word.

During his pastoral internship at Rocky Springs Church in Harrisville, Richard met the love of his life, Barbara Barr Rowe. Their shared faith became the foundation of a beautiful marriage and a lifetime of ministry together. They began their married life while Richard pastored a church in Philadelphia.

Following the birth of their first child, Rebecca (Shawn) Roskovski, Richard and Barbara returned to Beaver County, where he accepted the call to pastor Christ Presbyterian Church. There they raised their growing family, welcoming their son, Robert (Megan), and daughter, Rachel (Dave) Foster. Richard enjoyed golfing with his son, sons-in-law and grandsons and especially enjoyed tackling woodworking and mechanical projects.

Richard concluded his pastoral ministry serving country churches in Petrolia and Fairview, returning to the rural communities that reminded him of his own roots. Whether serving large congregations or small country churches, he faithfully shepherded God’s people with humility, wisdom and compassion.

Known affectionately as “Pappy,” Richard was deeply loved by his grandchildren, Chloe (Cole) Baxter, Canan (Julia) Roskovski, Isabelle, Hunter, Ava, Olivia, Stella, Rowan and Quinn. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Mack, Vivian, Rush, Wrenley and Benjamin, each of whom brought him great joy.

His family rejoices in the assurance that he has now heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

ROWE — The family of Richard Rowe, who died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Westminster PCA Church, 420 N. Main St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the church with Senior Pastor Dwight Dunn, of the church, officiating.

Interment will follow at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
