Van Lewis Paulsen, 66, of Parker, formerly of Butler, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at his home.

He was born Feb. 13, 1960, in Saxonburg, where he was raised, and attended Knoch High School. Van was the son of the late William L. and Eileen L. Harbison Paulsen.

He spent many years as a truck driver, working for various companies throughout his career and was known by the CB handle, “Rockin’ Roller.” Van was proud of the life he built for his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with them. Nothing brought him greater joy than seeing his children succeed. He was endlessly proud of their accomplishments and always their biggest fan.

Van will be remembered for his famous grilled chicken wings, Sunday breakfasts with family and the colorful commentary he never hesitated to share about others’ driving habits whenever he was the passenger. His quick wit, honesty and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Van leaves behind his two daughters, Tory (Gabe) Thimons and Kala Paulsen; his son, Matthew (Makiya) Paulsen; his beloved granddaughters, Abigail Felmlee and Kaylynn Hetrick; and his former wife and mother of his children, Karen Paulsen. He also leaves behind his sister, Toni Sasse; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and countless friends who will miss him dearly and cherish his memory.

PAULSEN — Van was a simple man who never wanted a formal service. In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held for Van Lewis Paulsen, who died Monday, Aug. 3, 2026.

ROBERT V. BURNS FUNERAL HOME, in Clarion, has the distinct honor of serving the family, and cremation care has been entrusted to the RV Burns Crematorium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Van’s honor to the Arthritis Foundation online at arthritis.org, honoring his lifelong journey with rheumatoid arthritis, or to a humane society of one’s choice.
