Cranberry Township Giant Eagle completes remodel; Seven Fields to follow
As the grocery scene in Cranberry Township continues to evolve with new competition coming soon, an established grocer has and is in the process of transforming a few of its current locations.
Cranberry Township-based Giant Eagle has completed the remodel of its Route 19 supermarket location, as well as its West View store in Allegheny County.
According to Giant Eagle, customers at each location will experience a bright and revitalized shopping experience with an aesthetic and store layout that will be the blueprint for future Giant Eagle store projects.
“We are excited to reintroduce guests to our Cranberry and West View Giant Eagle locations and we are thrilled for them to see how we’ve improved the in-stores shopping experience,” Giant Eagle spokesman Dan Donovan said. “The loyalty and support these communities have shown to Giant Eagle throughout the decades has meant the world to us, and we are pleased to reward that loyalty by delivering Giant Eagle’s newest store design, which brings freshness, quality and savings to the forefront of the experience.”
The company, in the coming months, will remodel additional stores throughout the region as part of a multi-million-dollar investment in elevating the Giant Eagle shopping experience, the company said.
Remodeling work is also currently underway at the Seven Fields location and other Pittsburgh-area locations.
As part of the Cranberry Township Giant Eagle remodel, customers will also experience a variety of new products and services across the store.
These include pizza and panini stations, and a soup bar in the prepared foods department; fresh breads baked by Mediterra in the bakery; roasted meats; and its Market District line of olive oils.
Starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, the Cranberry Township location will host a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, during which the company will donate $2,500 to the Seneca Valley Foundation.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Pirate Parrot mascot will be at the store during the ribbon-cutting event from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and the Giant Eagle Buggy will make a stop between 9 a.m. and noon.
A similar ceremony will take place at the West View Giant Eagle from 1 to 4 p.m. the same day.
The remodel announcements come after the company entered a definitive agreement with Cincinnati-based grocery chain Kroger in early July for the company to purchase Giant Eagle for $1.65 billion.
That news came on the heals of other grocery store announcements that have taken place recently in Butler County.
In January 2025, New York-based grocery chain Wegmans announced that it will be opening a store located on Cool Springs Drive in the Cranberry Springs development near UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
Wegmans Food Market has 19 locations in Pennsylvania, with some in the Erie and State College areas, but the Cranberry Township location is the first in the Pittsburgh region.
Then in September 2025, Meijer, a retailer based in Grand Rapids, Mich., announced that it has begun acquiring properties in the region following a successful expansion into neighboring northeast Ohio.
Meijer would go on to get approval for locations in Cranberry Township in December 2025 and Jackson Township in May 2026.
A year later, in June 2026, Meijer began looking at a third location in Butler County. According to Mark Gordon, chief of planning and economic development for Butler County, the grocer is currently looking for a site “closer to the middle of the county.”
