State police said they utilized a precision immobilization technique to stop a chase on Route 8. During the incident, police said the driver fled through an active construction zone and reached 140 mph.

Colin Noone-Hirosky, 22, of Pittsburgh, faces a felony count of fleeing or alluding police, one misdemeanor count each of reckless endangerment and DUI and several counts for summary offenses.

Police first spotted Noone-Hirosky driving a Honda Accord south on Route 8 in Clay Township traveling at high speeds.

Police said the vehicle he was driving was already traveling faster than 120 mph before police attempted a traffic stop. Police said the vehicle reached speeds of 140 mph during the chase then fled through an active construction zone. Police stopped the vehicle using a precision immobilization technique — a maneuver in which police strike a moving vehicle with theirs in an attempt to force a sudden 180-degree rotation causing the vehicle to stall — on Route 8 near Renfrew Road in Penn Township.

Police said Noone-Hirosky showed signs of impairment and tested positive for alcohol, but a blood alcohol concentration was not immediately available.

Noone-Hirosky’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Aug. 25 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton. He’s being held in Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.
