KENT, Ohio — Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison has given $100,000 to Kent State, his alma mater.

Harrison played for the Golden Flashes from 1999-2001. As a senior, he recorded a then-school record 12 sacks and was named first team All Mid-American Conference. However, he was not drafted by any NFL team and signed as free agent with Pittsburgh. He was named the league’s top defensive player in 2008.

In recognition of his gift, the school said it will rename the weight room at its field house The James Harrison Strength & Conditioning Center.
