Mary A. Tirk, 82, of Butler, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, at The Seasons of Saxonburg.

Born April 23, 1944, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Peter McLafferty and Ethel Bauldoff McLafferty.

Always a hard worker, Mary was employed for 17 years as a shift supervisor for Wendy’s restaurants. She also worked for 17 years at the Clearview Mart Flea Market Cheese Room with her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Kuzora. She previously was employed at the Butler County Mushroom Mine and Du-Co Ceramics Company.

She was a member of All Saints Parish.

Mary enjoyed family game nights, bus trips to the casino, beach trips, cookouts and playing cornhole. She loved her cats and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Kuzora and her husband, Tom, of Slippery Rock, Kelli Hoffman, of Butler, and Lori Weitzel and her husband, Braden, of Butler; five grandchildren, Braden Weitzel and his wife, Carly, Garrett Weitzel and his wife, Tonya, Allison Kuzora and her boyfriend, Josh Miller, Danny Kuzora, and Courtney Wigton and her husband, Alex; and three stepgrandchildren, Abbie Hoffman, Stephanie Hoffman and Ben Hoffman and his wife, Taylor.

Mary is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Elijah Weitzel and Walker Wigton; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Bella, Michael, Danny, Timothy and Grayson Hoffman; two sisters-in-law, Nancy McLafferty, of Saxonburg, and Helen McLafferty, of Cabot; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-grandson, who is due in November.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George R. Tirk, whom she married Oct. 31, 1969, and who passed away June 30, 2012; one son-in-law, Tim Hoffman; four brothers, Jim, Ed, Gary and George McLafferty; and two sisters-in-law, Helen McLafferty and Carmella McLafferty.

TIRK — Friends of Mary A. Tirk, who died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John J. Baver officiating.

Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.
