HARRISBURG — Two state senators have gotten new chairmanships.State Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21st, has been appointed chairman of the Senate Communications and Technology Committee by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe ScarnatiLegislation related to communication and/or technology issues must be approved by the committee before it can be taken up by the full Senate.He also is vice chairman of the Finance Committee and is a member of the Environmental Resources and Energy, Local Government, Public Health & Welfare and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.State Sen. Randy Vulakovich, R-40th, was appointed by Scarnati to chair the Senate Aging and Youth Committee.Vulakovich said, “ ... A top priority will be working to enact the remaining legislative proposals recommended by the Pennsylvania Task Force on Child Protection that was created in the wake of the abuse scandal at Penn State.”He will continue to serve as a member of the Appropriations; Communications and Technology; Community, Economic and Recreational Development; Judiciary; and Transportation committees.
