IN BRIEF

HARRISBURG — Tolls are going up on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Motorists will pay an extra 5 percent starting Sunday at 12:01 a.m. The higher rates apply to both cash customers and those with E-ZPass.

Turnpike officials say the increase will help reduce a state transportation funding shortfall. The money also will help pay to reconstruct the road and widen it from four lanes to six.

Drivers can view the new toll schedules online at www.paturnpike.com/toll.
